What is Project Dana?Organized in May 1998, Project Dana is a volunteer support program guided by the
Buddhist principle of Dana -- to contribute towards the well-being of the frail elderly
and those in need of limited assistance. |

What does DANA mean?Dana is a Sanskrit word meaning generosity -- to give of our time and love to all, to
share, and to be helpful in every way. |

How does one become a volunteer?Anyone interested in helping people can become a volunteer. Training sessions are
offered by resource persons in the community. |

Why is this service important?As the population of older adults increases, the need for support services will also
increase. Government and private sectors can cooperate and coordinate the care of the
elderly to enable them to enjoy independent living with dignity. |
