Paper Mache Elephant

Materials Needed
Newspaper
Starch
Styrofoam Cups and Bowls
Strapping Tape
Dentist's Saliva Tube
White and Black Tempera Paint
Brushes
Colored Tissue Paper
One Pipe Cleaner or White Tissue
Toilet Paper or Paper Towel Rolls
Glue

Instructions

Day 1

1. Ball up newspapers and tape to form the body.

2. Tape the body on top of four of the toilet paper or cut paper towel rolls.

3. Ball up newspapers to form the head.

4. Attach the tube to form the nose.

5. Pour starch into the bowls, dip newspaper strips into the bowls, and apply onto the elephant model.
   
   

Day 2

1. Shape the dry elephant.

2. Cut the elephant or apply more strips to better forms the elephant.   Pour tempera paint into the cups.

3. Paint the elephant white and paint the box black.
   
   

Day 3

1. Draw eyes on the elephant.

2. Pin the pipe cleaner as a tail or glue a long piece of white tissue paper.

3. Pour glue in paper plates.

4. Cut colored tissue paper into squares.

5. Dip the squares into the glue and apply the tissue paper around the box.

6. Glue the elephant onto the box.
